Whippet

Life Span: Up to 15 years
Family: Whippets enjoy being with their owners. They are good with children but not with cats.
Possible Health Issues: Cryptorchidism(Missing one or both teste), some eye defects, They are sensitive to the medication called Barbiturates.
Training: They are stubborn, but trainable.
Weight: 25 to 40 Pounds
Whippets are couch potatoes, but when they run, they can go up to 35 miles per Hour.They received their name from its whip like speed. A dog sweater is recommended in cold weather. They have night vision eyes, so they can see very well at night. They can also see 250 degrees of sight.

West Highland WhiteTerrier

Life Span: Up to 14 years

Training: Requires extensive training

Family: Good in a Family

Grooming: Wash only once a month due to dry skin and allergies. You must brush frequently to keep their coats clean. Wash their ears weekly to prevent ear infections. You have to use Baby shampoo to bathe them.

Possible Health Issues: Hip problems, and Craniomandibular osteopathy(A normal bone replaced with a miniature bone).

West Highland White Terriers are also known as the "Westie." They are not lap dogs. They have a super strong tail that can get them out of tight places.

Dachshund

Life Span: 12-15 years

Possible Health Issues: Spine Issues 

Grooming: Easy to groom

Varieties of Dachshunds: Standard, miniature, long haired, or short haired

Training: Trainable with consistency

Family: Doesn't get along with children very well unless taught to be social with them.

Dachshunds resemble hot dog in a bun. They are really short dogs with a long body. They were bred to track things down and fit in small tunnels.

Yorkshire Terrier

Weight: 5 to 7 pounds

Grooming: A weekly comb unless the coat is really long.

Possible Heath Issues: Pharyngeal Gag Reflex, and tooth decay

Ancestors: Sky Terrier, Airedale Terrier, Clydesdale Terrier(Extinct), and Paisley Terrier(Extinct)

Family: Yorkshire Terriers aren't recommended with kids.

Yorkshire Terriers are energetic dogs. They used to be bred to chase rats in sewers. These dogs are Hypo-Allergenic Dogs because their fur is actually human hair. They usually have a lower body temperature than other dog breeds.

Ragdoll Cat

Breed: Ragdolls are mixed between a white angora and another domestic shorthaired cat.

Grooming: Ragdoll's coats are easy to care for and they don't shed much. They need very little grooming. In winter, their fur might have static electricity and their coats aren't thick.

Possible Health Issues: Heart Disease is common with this breed of cat. Have your vet check them for heart Disease often.

Family: They make wonderful Family Cats

Ragdolls are the biggest cats known. They can weigh up to 35 pounds. They have very large bones and long legs.

Here are some ideas of how to potty train your new dog:

• You must ask them if they need to go potty, then take them outside immediately.
  

• A puppy doesn't know what going potty is, but in time they will know.
  
  
• It might take them a while to do anything while you are outside, but they will soon.
  
  
• After they are done doing their business, take them inside and praise them. If you have any treats, give them one.
  
  
• You give them treats to let them know they get a reward for doing something good.
  

• If you are going anywhere for a while put your new puppy in a cage because they will not do their business on places they sleep.

• At night before you go to bed, put them in their cage until they are house broken.

• Make sure to keep an eye on them to see if they start sniffing the floor or if they start circling around.

• Take them outside about 15 minutes after they get a drink of water, and every hour.
  
  
• Soon they will be potty trained and you can take them outside when they whine or bark by the door.

The Importance of Walking a Dog

Walking a dog can help them maintain a healthy weight and help keep prevent health problems. It can help a dog that is high strung to be calmer. Dogs need to have a harness on, so you have more control of them. Larger dogs need more exercise than smaller ones. You should start walking them when they are puppies. My dog named Mason, used to be overweight, but I started walking him everyday. He is now at a normal weight and every time I ask him if he wants to go on a walk, he gets excited. I use a retractable leash that locks and he always wear a harness, so I have more control of him.

Persian Cats

Grooming: Persian Cats need to be brushed everyday. Their hair can be shaved and made into yarn.

Possible Health Issues: Persian Cats need to be checked for Kidney Disease, asthma, and Respiratory Issues by their vets. Their eyes need to be cleaned daily as well because their eyes get gooey.

Family: Persian Cats are the perfect family cat.

Persian Cats are the most popular cat in the world. They are often called a "lounge lizard" because the lay around a lot. They must be kept as indoor cats.

American Short hair Cat

Grooming: American short hairs don't need to be groomed daily. They have short hair.

Heath: Very healthy but check every now and then at your vet to check for heart disease.

Family: American Short hair's are great with other pets and children. They are not needy.

Weight: fully grown at about three or four years old:
Females: 8 to 12 pounds
Males: 11 to 15 pounds

Life: American Short hair's can live for about 15 to 20 years old.

Americans short hairs are the Best mouse and rat hunters. They have short pointed ears. They are also known as the British Short hair.

Savannah Cats

Breed: Savannah Cats are bred between a Wild Cat in Africa and a domestic cat.

Weight: About 30 pounds

Family: Savannah Cats are similar to having a pet dog. They can jump as high as 7 feet high. Some states don't allow this cats to be a pet because of the wildness in them.

Possible Health Issues: Savannah Cats are very healthy and have very few health problems.

The black tear marks on the sides of their eyes reflect light . They have very odd noises such as the snake hiss. Unlike other cats, Savannah's like water.

Scottish Fold Cats

Family: Very Playful and attention seeking.

Health: Very healthy and they can live up to 18 years.

Grooming: They need a daily grooming.

Environment: They can be around loud and noisy pets or people.

Breeding: You have to be very careful breeding them.

Their ears are folded down because the ear cartilage is very weak and floppy.

Turkish Angora Cats

Grooming: Turkish Angora's have a long silky coat with large ears. They don't need to be groomed very often.

Family: Turkish Angoras' make a great family pet

Possible Health Issues: Very Healthy, but they can have lower urinary tract disease, upper respiratory infection, Feline calicivirus, Feline immunodeficiency virus, and Feline infectious peritonitis.

Turkish Angoras' talk very often and can be a helpful pet.

Himalayan Cat

Family: Himalayan Cats are very sweet tempered. They are really good companions with people. They really like to play.

Possible Medical Issues: They have weight problems. You have to watch their weight constantly to make sure they don't lose or gain very much. They have breathing problems, upper respiratory infections, feline distemper, leukemia cancer, Feline immunodeficiency virus, Feline Infectious Peritonitis Virus, and lower urinary tract infection

Bull Terriers

Training: Bull Terriers are not hard to train. They learn thing quite quickly.

Family: Bull Terriers must be with a family that is active everyday. They are very high energy dogs. You would probably want to take them for a walk daily-at least twice a day. You have to watch them carefully with small children, because they sometimes think small children are puppies.

Weight: Bull Terriers can weight between 50 to 100 pounds.

Medical Problems: Bull Terriers tend to have Patella Problems, skin Problems, and deafness.

Grooming: Bull Terriers are easy to Groom because they have short hair. They do shed, so they are not Hypo-allergenic breeds.
