Pet Of the Day in Need For Adoption: Josephine the White Haired Cat

Josephine: Domestic Short Hair-White, Cat; Dana, IN

Information about Josephine from PetFinder

Josephine is a sweet girl who loves people. She gets along with other cats and dogs.
Josephine did test positive for FIV, which makes her harder to place because it scares people. But it is highly unlikely to ever effect her, so don't let that stop you from getting a sweetheart.
The only special care that Josephine will need to live a long, healthy, life is to be kept inside and fed a good quality food, which all cats should get any way.

Josephine's adoption fee is $50 and includes her spay surgery, at least one FVRCP vaccine, worming, Advantage for fleas, and testing for Feline Leukemia and FIV.

Pet of the Week: In Need Of Adoption: Maxwell, the Husky Mix

Maxwell: Husky, Dog; Waynetown, IN

Information from PetFinder
Max is a beautiful dog. He is very protective of his family. He has a big bark and will keep a stranger from walking into your house. He is a big baby and loves to be brushed and petted. He has a bad leg, he has had surgery on his back left knee three times and he keeps blowing it out. The vet said he can't do anything for it now. He gets along just fine and he even runs in the play yard. He always looks like he is smiling. He needs a forever home of his own. He would be better in a home without a lot of activity as in people coming and going.

Pet of the Day: In Need Of Adoption: PeekABoo the Keeshond Mix

Peekaboo: Keeshond, Dog; Urbana, IL

Information from PetFinder

Peekaboo?!?! Yup, that's me. That's cause I "peek" out from whatever I can find to hide under, and if anyone says anything I think its "boo" and I run back and hide again. People are so incredibly BIG! Geez, you just gotta see it from my perspective down here on the floor. When I look up all I see is this HUGE long set of legs. WOW! But I'm learning. Foster mom is giving me treats whenever I come up to her and I really, really like that game!
Nanna told me she is what people call a "designer dog." Seems like maybe that's what I am too? Not real sure cause I'm lots smaller than Nanna. I come from the same place as Nanna (so read her story if you want to know my "roots") but I don't think that is what she means by a "designer" dog. Bottom line, I guess is I don't really know what I am.

But maybe that doesn't matter. That's at least what Quigley tells me. He says that we live in America and its not supposed to matter. We got as many doggie rights as the next dog. Sounds good to me, so I guess I'll go with that.

So like Nanna and Quig, I'm learning all about "houses" and stairs, and things like that. A bit scary, but kinda interesting too. That's why I keep peeking --- its so much fun to discover new things. Have to say, though, I'm not as fast as Nanna or Quig --- took me several hours to figure out the stair thingee. But that's ok, I'll bet I'm better at other things. Just gotta keep an eye out for those other things.

I have no problem with the other doggies or even the cats. And I do love the big yard that I can run and play in. Don't understand about housebreaking or doggie doors, but all in good time. That's my motto, ya can't build Rome in no day, as they say.

What do you think? Want a wee doggie that's a bit like a cat but fun like a dog? That could be me! Why not come and see.

NOTE: Adopters are required to travel to the foster care site to assure a good match is made between dog and new family. Prior to placement in a permanent home, all pets at KRCS are spayed/neutered, updated on all vaccinations, including rabies, heartworm tested and on preventative, on flea/tick preventative, and microchipped.

To adopt, please visit our home page at: www.keeshondrescue.petfinder.org Information on adopting is under the section titled "Adopting a New Family Member."

Pet of the Day: In need for Adoption: Mac, the White Maine Coon

Mac: Domestic Medium Hair - Gray And White, Cat; Clinton, IN

Information from PetFinder
Cat adoption fees have been temporarily reduced! Due to an extremely high census, we have reduced the adoption fee to $25 for cats and kittens. We are desperately crowded just now at the shelter and need to get some of our animals adopted right away. Also, Adopt a Senior pet from Parke Vermillion County Humane Society for only $10. We have reduced the adoption fee to $10 for any pet at our shelter that is five years old or older.
Mac was brought to the shelter on 12/9/10 after having been found as a stray in Hillsdale, Indiana. When he arrived, he weighed 10.4 pounds and was about 3 years old. Mac is current on vaccinations. He is listed as special needs because he tests positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV); consequently, we would prefer he be adopted into a home with a family that has been educated about FIV. He tested negative for Feline Leukemia Virus. As with most of our cats, Mac must be adopted as an indoor cat only.
Unless otherwise stated, the adoption fee for one of our cats is $65 if the cat has already been spayed or neutered. For cats that have not yet been spayed or neutered, the adoption fee is $40 plus a surgery deposit of $50. The surgery deposit will be refunded once the shelter receives proof of the completion of the spay or neuter surgery.
Our shelter is open to the public on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm and other times by appointment. If you would like to make an appointment to meet one of our many adoptable animals, please send an email to us at pvchs@abcs.com. To apply to adopt, you may download an adoption application from the "Applications and Fees" tab on our website. The web address is www.pvchs.cfsites.org. Please email the completed application to pvchs@abcs.com.
